It’s the most wonderful time of the year! I love Christmas time and I love Christmas music. The Peridot has compiled an hour and 15 minutes of joyful noise. We start off with a rump shaker where The 69 Boyz and K-Nock inquire about the desires of our heart that make up our Christmas list. Gifts…Gifts…Donations. Eartha Kitt tells Ol’ Saint Nick to run it up, baby. Purr. Luther, Brian and the Boyz keep it jazzy. Mr. Nat King Cole is the standard with this Christmas classic. The Jackson 5 Christmas Album is what Christmas sounds like to me. It is the soundtrack of my childhood Christmas memories thanks to my mommy. TLC keeps it light and upbeat before we go to church. The first verse of Silent Night begins with “In my mind…” and Mariah hits THE NOTE. Kirk and The Fam remind us of The Reason. Donny Hathaway sings the best rendition of This Christmas. Period. Stevie Wonder and Michael Jackson’s young voices are so sweet and pure. The harmonies of Destiny’s Child are anointed by Mary’s Child. Whitney The Voice Houston has the top three greatest soundtracks of all time and one of the greatest Christmas songs of all time.
